It systematically adjusts standard fertilizer recommendations by accounting for the fertilizer value inherent in manure application and legume residue, thus aiding in preventing over-application.

The app features three integrated calculators that incorporate essential formulas and computations to determine nutrient credits efficiently:

• Analyzed Nutrient Content: Designed for manure that has undergone laboratory analysis, this calculator allows users to select manure type (by livestock species and form), specify the time from application to incorporation, input lab-reported values for total or available nutrients (N, P2O5, K2O, S), and adjust application rates. The outputs display the calculated nutrient credits, which should be subtracted from base fertilizer recommendations to account for manure's contribution.
• Average Nutrient Content: Suitable when laboratory analysis is unavailable, this calculator utilizes standard average nutrient values based on comprehensive lab data. Users can select manure type, application timing category, and application rate to estimate nutrient credits. While convenient, it is recommended to perform manure analyses when possible due to variability in nutrient content.
• Legume Nitrogen Credits: This component estimates nitrogen contributions from forage legumes such as Alfalfa or Red Clover/Birdsfoot Trefoil. Users can select the specific legume crop, soil texture (medium/fine soils or sand), stand density at termination, and the level of residual plant regrowth. The resulting nitrogen credit should be deducted from the initial fertilizer recommendation for subsequent crops.

Each calculator provides clear outputs of nutrient credits, facilitating more accurate fertilizer planning. The app supports automatic conversion between total and available nutrient values when data are entered, enhancing user convenience. Additionally, a reset function allows users to clear inputs efficiently for new assessments.
